The workshop will focus on the landscape from photographs and the outdoors and your imagination.  This class is for all levels of students.
Tom is a story teller, and he strives to teach his students to tell a story in their paintings.  The workshop will include daily demonstrations, painting more dynamic skies, adding textures to the landscape, layering for depth, placement of color to make a more exciting painting and painting the center of interest.  Tom's goal is to give you as many new ideas to enhance your current style and to give as much information as possible in a fun and entertaining class setting.  Daily prize drawings of art products.  Above all else Tom beleives in going the extra mile to make sure the students leave saying "wow that was great!"  www.tomjonesartist.com

Nicholas Simmons-- Acrylic /Watercolor Mixed Media
$425.00
Location: Innovative Watermedia
Workshop Dates: 11/12/2010 - 11/14/2010
Contact Person: Mikolean Longacre or Sandra Baker-Hinton

The workshop will concentrate on concepts and techniques for which Simmons is noted: diversity in subject matter, large scale paintings, fluid acrylic used as transparent watercolor, unusual textures such as Nicholas' popular "batik" technique, computer-aided design (computer not required for enrollees); composition, poured watercolor; and creative photography for obtaining unconventional reference shots.  Everybody will paint daily, and each person will receive indivdualized attention.  Be prepared for Nicholas' unorthodox and at times irreverent approach, and buckle up for a wokshop that runs more on adrenalin than the rule book!

Mr Simmons' paintings have been featured in a variety of publications and on Maryland Public Televeison.  In 2008, his DVD Innovative Watermedia
was released by Creative Catalyst Productions.  Awards include the top prize at the 2007 National Watercolor Society, and consecutive gold medals at the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, 2008-2009.  In 2010,  he was awarded a gold medal at the Texas Watercolor Society Show.   www.nicholassimmons.com

 Armand Cabrera
$650.00
Location: Plein Air Painting on Amelia Island
Workshop Dates: 3/21/2011 - 3/25/2011
Contact Persons: Mikolean Longacre or Sandra Baker-Hinton

This is a five day Plein Air Workshop that will be held at beautiful Fort Clinch State Park, historic downtown Amelia Island and the surrounding areas.  Armand will choose specific sites for each day designed to teach the student how to approach different subjects & to give the student a variety of experiences to enhance their artistic growth.

Armand Cabrera workshops are a fun and intensive way to study the Essentials of Successful Painting, no matter what your style or level. He guides his students with practical solutions to overcome the obstacles that prevent them from creating successful paintings. There will be a maximum of 14 students in this workshop, allowing each student to get plenty of attention. Students will learn how to finish 2 paintings per day in an alla prima method.

Armand teaches how to simplify and organize the painting process to work within the fleeting time constraints of the roving sun. He instructs how to "organize nature" and capture light and atmosphere in a painterly fashion. He demos daily, usually between 12 pm - 1 pm ... during the most challenging time of the day, leaving the better hours of light for the students to paint. Students discover how to eliminate their weaknesses. More seasoned painters will be taught how to solve advanced problems and perfect their technique.

Students are asked to bring small sketches or photos from which to paint. As this is an outdoor workshop, students should anticipate weather changes and bring proper attire.
In the event of rain, the workshop will be held indoors at the Amelia Island Hotel.

Important: Please go to Armand’s website to review the important Materials and Reading List. His informative blog has a wealth of information about painting. http://www.artandinfluence.blogspot.com/

Armand will be staying at the Amelia Island Hotel on the beach. Amelia Island Artists Workshop has negotiated a special reduced rate at this hotel.
