Sandra Baker-Hinton and Mikolean Morgan Longacre

Workshop Coordinators

The Amelia Island Artists Workshop is committed to providing access to some of the best instructors in fine art today.   Started by experienced artists Sandra Baker-Hinton and Mikolean Morgan Longacre, and located in beautiful Amelia Island, Florida, the workshops will be held in either in the Historic Downtown or at Fort Clinch Park.   The coordinators are established artists themselves who have studied in many workshops and know the value of good instruction.  They are dedicated to making your time during the workshops a rewarding and stress-free experience. The main office of Amelia Island Artists Workshop is located at 218A Ash Street in Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach, Florida. 904-491-8040.

Sandra Baker-Hinton, President and Artist Development Director, is a  painter, glass artist, and photographer. She is a Signature member of the National Watercolor Society, Georgia Watercolor Society, and Tennessee Watercolor Society. She has had work accepted in many juried shows winning numerous awards.   She has shown extensively in shows from New York to California and even shown in an exchange show with Russian artists from Voronezh, Russia—traveling to Russia for the opening.

Moving to Amelia Island over six years ago, she is the owner of the Amelia SanJon Gallery located in the historic district of Fernandina Beach, Florida. She is a self motivator who has pursued her painting career throughout her adult life.  She was born in the mountains of Southern Appalachia and received her Degree in Art with a tenuous educational beginning in a rural one room school.  Besides her love of painting she has also developed a love for the Sea Turtles as Turtle Patrol Volunteer for Fort Clinch State Park for the past six seasons.

Mikolean Morgan Longacre, Excecutive Director and CEO,  is a full-time artist painting in oils and pastel.   She is a member of the National Portrait Society, the Celia Beaux Forum and the American Impressionist Society.  For twenty years she was a successful Trademark Attorney and painted on vacations and weekends. In 2006, Mikolean took a leap of faith to follow her dream of becoming a full-time artist.
Mikolean is a self-taught artist although she credits all of her progress from nontraditional methods such as taking many workshops and mentoring from experienced artists.   In 2006, she was awarded a commission from AOL to design its Black History Poster.  In 2006, she was one of the winners of the "Five over Fifty contest in Jacksonville Florida.  In 2007, after review of her portfolio, she was invited to study at Studio Escalier in Argenton Chateau, France.
Since that time she has painted the 2008 and 2009 Black History Poster for the Amelia Island Museum of History and is represented in North Florida by the Fogle Gallery of Jacksonville. Mikolean's art is in both private and corporate collections, including the corporate collection of Regions bank. Mikolean paints six days a week in her studio overlooking Lanceford Creek.  She is driven by her desire to learn to paint and considers taking workshops a necessity for constant growth.  She considers herself blessed to paint in her swimsuit and with her dog at her side.  She loves to paint the marsh, still-life, figures and accepts portrait commissions.   Mikolean's website is www.mikoleanlongacre.com
